Kayla Paige Studio hosts the unique handmade creations of Kayla ( Paige) Granath.
She is a multidisciplinary artist and craftswoman living on the coast of California with her husband, son and two dogs.
With a focus on unique & carefully crafted items, Kayla aspires to create functional objects that are a pleasure to use in the home, to enrich & inspire everyday rituals such as serving your loved ones, having a coffee or getting dressed.
Kayla's work explores the relationship between design & function. depending on the piece, she takes inspiration from the raw organic materials, textures & shapes of the earth, combining this with hand painted patterns, fluid dribbling glazes, crystals, high quality fibers & real 22k gold accents.

Ceramic Mug Process
The life of each piece begins on my wedging table, as I measure out various colorants, weigh lumps of clay, and then ball them up. Next in the process is the potter's wheel, where each mug is thrown into a unique shape. I then trim the excess clay from their bases to create a footing and stamp. As the vessels begin to further dry on my work table, I wedge more clay to pull into handles before they are attached to my mugs. finally I carve into the handle and add the tiny pearls each individually rolled between my fingers.
Each piece is bisque fired, sanded, brush glazed and then fired to 2200*F.
In the last step, many of my pieces are accented with 22k gold luster and vintage flower decals and then fired a third, and sometimes a fourth time.
